Alivia Barker hammered a match-high 12 kills as Lake Forest College women's volleyball swept Alverno College 25-14, 25-23, 25-14 on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The Foresters controlled the first set from the opening serve, according to the team's game recap. Lake Forest won the first six points and built a lead that reached double figures. The margin was 10 again before Lilly Robinson's kill closed out the set.

Set two was a different story. Alverno led by as many as five points at 11-6 and pushed the advantage back to five at 20-15.

Lake Forest rallied.

L'Rae White's kill capped a 6-1 run that tied the set at 21-21. The Foresters then won four straight points to take a two-set lead.

Lake Forest left no doubt in the third. The Foresters opened with eight consecutive points and stretched the advantage to 10. Alverno got no closer than seven the rest of the way, and Sadie Fry's kill finished the match.

Robinson added 11 assists to go with her first-set clincher. Simisola Osinaike recorded four blocks at the net. On the service line, Margaret Almonte, White and Elise Kelley each delivered three aces. White also led the team with 13 digs, anchoring the back row.

The win moved Lake Forest to 5-7 on the season. Alverno fell to 2-13.

The Foresters head to Aurora University on Thursday, Oct. 1, for a doubleheader. Lake Forest faces Rockford University at 5 p.m. before taking on the host Spartans at 7 p.m.
