Lake Forest Academy's boys soccer team won 3-2 at Deerfield on Friday, Sept. 25, improving to 5-3-2 on the season.

The Caxys earned the nonconference road victory against a Deerfield squad that had already lost five of its last six home games before Friday's match, according to MaxPreps. Deerfield fell to 3-5-2.

The result adds to an early season built around the scoring of junior forward Adrian Wood. The LFA athletics department named Wood its August Caxy Athlete of the Month on Sept. 18, crediting him with 11 goals in his first five games. His coach's nomination said Wood had filled the scoring void left by graduated seniors and called his early production rate impressive.

That 11-goal figure reflected Wood's totals through mid-September. His numbers through 10 games have not been published.

LFA carried its 5-3-2 mark into a quick turnaround. The Caxys were scheduled to host Niles Notre Dame, which carried a 10-2 record, in another nonconference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.

Elsewhere on the local soccer scene Friday, Lake Forest High School fell 3-1 to Lake Zurich in North Suburban Conference play, according to the Chicago Tribune's weekly scoreboard roundup.

LFA's next test after the Niles Notre Dame date: a schedule that gets no easier as October approaches.
