Lake Bluff families and taxpayers can weigh in on how their elementary district spends money next year at a public hearing set for Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Lake Bluff School District 65 posted its tentative fiscal year 2026-27 budget for public inspection, according to a notice published on the district website Wednesday, Aug. 26. The notice was signed by Lauren Hirsh, secretary for the Board of Education.
The hearing starts at 6:45 p.m. at the district's administrative office, 121 E. Sheridan Place, Lake Bluff.
How to review the budget
The tentative spending plan is available two ways before the hearing:

- In person at the administrative office, 121 E. Sheridan Place, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Residents who cannot attend the Sept. 29 hearing may submit written comments to be read aloud by emailing Amy Kotnik at [email protected], according to district meeting procedures.
Budget timeline
Business Manager Jay Kahn first presented the tentative budget to the board at its May 19 meeting, supported by four documents including a state-form budget, a budget memo and two presentation formats, according to the meeting agenda. Kahn had outlined budget parameters at the April 28 board meeting.
The district has held its annual budget hearing in late September each of the past four years. The notice does not state whether the board will vote to adopt the budget at the Sept. 29 meeting or at a later date.
What's not yet public
The tentative budget's total dollar figure and line-item details have not been published in a text-accessible format.
