Four Lake Forest College golfers carrying demanding majors and conference honors helped the Foresters maintain a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the fifth consecutive year, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday, Aug. 5.

The streak earned the program Presidents Special Recognition status from the GCAA, placing Lake Forest among just 28 NCAA Division III programs nationally to reach that threshold in 2025-26. The distinction sits above the broader PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, which requires a 3.0 team GPA and went to a record 331 schools across six divisions this year. Of those, 155 earned the higher Presidents Special Recognition.

Five consecutive seasons above 3.5.

Who's in the classroom

The same four golfers who earned individual GCAA Division III All-America Scholar honors on Tuesday, Aug. 4, anchor the team's academic profile. Junior Tyler Schick, a business major with a management concentration, earned the individual honor for the second time. Junior Tyler Wengronowitz, a finance major with a concentration in accounting, led the team on the course with a 73.12 scoring average while also earning first-team all-conference at the 2026 SLIAC Championship Tournament.

Sophomores Nate Choi and Tyler Poker round out the group. Choi carries a double major in finance and data science with a computer science concentration. Poker, a business major, played in 10 of the team's 11 events and averaged 76.64 strokes over 22 rounds. All four were also named SLIAC All-Academic in May.

The national picture

Lake Forest College competes in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as an NCAA Division III institution, where athletes receive no athletic scholarships and balance full course loads with competition schedules. The GCAA noted the 2025-26 Foresters matched last season's result of four individual All-America Scholars alongside the team honor.

The Foresters return all four scholars for the 2026-27 season.
