Molly Scheibler, most recently deputy director at Schaumburg Township District Library, will take over as executive director of Lake Forest Library in mid-September.
The Library Board announced the hire on Tuesday, Aug. 18, selecting Scheibler to lead the 128-year-old institution at 360 East Deerpath Road.
"We are very excited to welcome Molly as our new Executive Director," board president Josh Jackson said in the announcement. "The energy, ideas, and leadership Molly brings will ensure the Library continues on its positive trajectory."
Scheibler brings more than 14 years of experience in Illinois public libraries. Before moving into administration at Schaumburg Township, she held youth services leadership roles at Indian Trails Public Library District in Wheeling, Cook-Memorial Public Library District, Fremont Public Library and Glenview Public Library. She earned her Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has taught as an adjunct instructor in information studies since 2018.
She is also active in statewide and national professional organizations, including Reaching Across Illinois Library Systems, the Illinois Library Association and the American Library Association.
Board vice president Emily Van Bel said Scheibler's vision gives the board confidence in the library's future.
Scheibler said she looks forward to working with the board and library staff "to serve Lake Forest in a manner befitting this outstanding community."
The library has earned multiple Star Library ratings from Library Journal, including four-star ratings in 2013–2017, 2019 and 2022. Ishwar Laxminarayan was last referenced as executive director in late 2024.
