Lake Forest's District 67 Board of Education is again at full membership. Mark Pickett, a six-year Lake Forest resident and D67 parent, was sworn in as an interim board member at a special meeting Sunday, June 21, filling the seat left vacant by Timo Berger's resignation.

Pickett will serve through the April 2027 board election. His appointment gives the seven-member board a complete roster heading into summer construction work and planning for the 2026–27 school year.

Berger resigned due to an international relocation, according to the district's announcement. The board followed its Policy 2:70 process, issuing a public call for applications and interviewing candidates before selecting Pickett. The district noted multiple community members applied but did not disclose the number of applicants.

Pickett is beginning his second term on the Superintendent's Advisory Council for Districts 67 and 115. He has served on the Lake Forest Caucus Committee in multiple leadership roles, on the board of the Rotary Club of Lake Forest–Lake Bluff, and as a volunteer youth sports coach. He has two children in D67 schools and works in marketing and communications.

The remaining board members are President Gregory Adamo, Vice President Monica Yaun, Secretary Lori Fitzgerald, Megan Engelberg, Mark Remus, and Jerold Lavin.

The board's next regular meeting is Tuesday, August 18, at 7:00 p.m. Families can reach the board at [email protected].
